PROBLEM: Despite numerous reform efforts, our schools still lack sufficient funding and resources to successfully educate EVERY child.
SOLUTION:
As Alderman I will endeavor to bring much needed resources and new strategies for accessing monies to our schools. I will also serve as a thought partner for our Local School Councils, principals and parents.

I want to help connect 6th Ward schools with the corporate and notfor- profit educational resources which I’ve become familiar in my years as an education professional. Programs such as Computers for Schools, Donors Choose, Innovations for Learning, (and resources such as Donors Forum), are potential partners, as well as companies like the Northern Trust and Quaker Oats, which have demonstrated interest in Englewood and Chatham. I would work with our schools and these organizations to build partnerships, increase funding and develop mentoring and tutoring programs to help our students succeed.
